Schools of Rochdale

We welcome children and school staff from all schools and colleges but we have a particularly close relationship with three of our partner schools: St John’s RC Primary school is, as the name suggests, the partner school to St John’s Church; St Gabriel’s RC Primary is the partner school to St Gabriel’s Church; and St Cuthbert’s RC High is the partner school for both off our primary schools.

Each of our schools will have the opportunity of providing material for their page of the website. To start with we will look at the work of Caritas – Faith in Action.

St Gabriel RC Primary School

Our job is a very important one! We look after the most precious thing in our school – our faith. We are messengers of God’s love! We are entrusted with the responsibility of giving joyful witness of Christ in our school. We lead prayer and worship in the school.

At St. Gabriel’s, we share this vision and believe that all children are unique and equal as God’s children, their voices should be heard and they should be treated with dignity.

Our Caritas ambassadors are passionate about their roles and are excellent role models, leading by example and sharing their passion for protecting the most vulnerable in our school, local community and wider world.

Some projects we have completed this year are as follows: In September, we visited the Relics of St. Bernadette at the Cathedral and we also attended the launch of Hope in the Future with the Bishop, where we celebrated the work of many Caritas teams in the Salford Diocese. In October, we held a Harvest festival and the proceeds were donated to the local food banks. In December, we completed a reverse advent calendar for the homeless where each class brought in different items each day. These were donated to Petrus and the Sanctuary Trust on behalf of HART Team at Rochdale Health Alliance.

We are currently collecting for St. Joseph’s penny during Lent and our children are completing the Big Lent Walk to raise money for CAFOD, by completing a daily mile of walking each playtime in school.
